Working with me
Working with me
Who will I be working with?
You will work directly with me, Clive Sinclair. I have more than 45 years of business experience, predominantly in franchising, and have worked at senior level with franchise networks for over 40 years.
Who do you help?
I work with owners considering franchising their business, existing franchisors developing their networks and people thinking about buying a franchise.
What happens in the first consultation?
The initial consultation is free and usually lasts around an hour. We discuss your situation, what you want to achieve and the questions or difficulties you are facing. If further work would be useful, we can discuss the scope and next steps. There is no obligation to continue.
How do you charge for your work?
Fees depend on the work involved and the level of support you need. After the initial conversation, we agree the scope, fees and payment arrangements before work begins. Any advertising spend or external specialist costs will also be identified and agreed.
Do you carry out the work or just advise?
I do both. Depending on the assignment, I can advise, prepare materials, help implement campaigns, take part in recruitment and support training and progress reviews. We agree my responsibilities at the outset.
Can we work remotely?
Yes. Much of the discussion, planning, document review and ongoing support can be carried out remotely. We can agree whether any part of the assignment would benefit from meeting in person.
Can you guarantee growth or recruitment results?
No. Results depend on the business, the market, the people involved and how the work is carried out. My role is to help you make informed decisions, undertake agreed work and review progress honestly.
Franchising your business
Franchising your business
Is my business suitable for franchising?
A successful business is a starting point, but it also needs to be repeatable, financially workable for a franchisee and supported by clear systems. A feasibility assessment can help identify whether franchising is suitable and what needs to be put in place.
What does setting up a franchise involve?
The work can include feasibility, financial planning, defining the franchise model, operations manuals, training, specialist legal documentation and preparing the recruitment offer. We agree the stages needed for your business rather than assuming every assignment is the same.
How long does it take to franchise a business?
It depends on how well established and documented the business is, what needs developing and the resources available. We can discuss a realistic programme after reviewing your starting point. It is better to prepare properly than recruit before the model is ready.
Do I need a franchise solicitor?
Specialist legal advice is important when preparing or reviewing a franchise agreement. My role covers the business and commercial work; a suitably qualified solicitor may be required should more specific advice be needed on legal rights, obligations and documentation.
Existing franchise networks

Can you help an existing franchise network?
Yes. I help with growth strategy, marketing, recruitment, operations, franchisee support and the development of new products and services. Regular progress reviews can form part of an ongoing assignment.
Buying a franchise
Buying a franchise
Can you help me assess a franchise I am thinking of buying?
Yes. We can examine the business model, costs, financial assumptions, support and practical demands, and identify questions for the franchisor and existing franchisees. Legal and accounting specialists should advise on matters requiring their expertise.
